Plated steel 5/16" eyebolts are threaded into each end of 2" diameter machined steel and then welded for additional safety. The dual eyebolt configuration allows for the attachment of the cable or rope assembly to the upper eyebolt and the retainer ring to the lower eyebolt to increase safety. The counterweights then receive a thick coating of plastisol which is trimmed back at the eyebolt.
The Counterweight plays a dual role in the operation of an internal halyard flagpole. It allows the cable assembly/flag arrangement to be lowered with tension when the flag has been removed and it also helps the flag stay taught in winds. These steel counterweights have a thick plastic coating, and from a significant safety standpoint, have dual attachment points. The end of the cable assembly/flag arrangement attaches to the top of the counterweight with a connecting link. The retainer ring attaches to the bottom of the counterweight with another connecting link.
The cable assembly and retainer ring should never be attached to the same end of the counterweight leaving the other end empty.
