The current national flag of Albania is said to have been the flag of Skanderbeg, the national hero of Albania, whose helmet is shown on the State emblem. The flag of Albania, nicknamed flamur e Skënderbeut (the flag of Skanderbeg), is red with a black double-headed eagle.
